Got a couple of DVDs from the rental shop yesterday. American Dreamz is basically a spoof of X-Factor/Pop Idol. Hugh Grant plays the presenter (who has echoes of Simon Cowell) very well. Not hilarious, but it has a few good moments.
Shooting Dogs is an altogether more serious film. It covers the start of the Rwanda genocide in 1994, focusing on 2500 tutsis who sought shelter from murderous Hutu militia in a school / UN compound. It doesn't pull any punches and it does make you feel ashamed to be part of a developed world that stood by and did nothing whilst such atrocities happened. Very moving and highly recommended.
