The Music Genome project is interesting - check out Pandora here.

Basically you enter a song or artist you like and it plays a track musically similar to it based on a data set, and then it plays a track musically similar to that track - and so on and so forth.

Pretty cool. Currently the service is only available to people in the US. Although since the verification mechanism is based on entering a zipcode... yes quite...
